SmoothFlavor
September 21, 2006 07:04 PM PDT
Don'tWasteYour...(Big L Instrumental?) My cousin hooked me up with the loop, when I was out in the San Diego scene. I wrote the verse, right when I heard the beat drop, thus, 'smooth flavor'. I put this song together in a crazy process. To explain, I first recorded a few days ago, but was unsatsified with the quality of my voice I chose to redo the vocals over. The second draft required that I create 4 different tracks in which I can lay out four different melodies that can simultaneously play together, just a step beyond ad-libbin, to the extent that more awareness of vocal arrangement is necessary. In any case, ENJOY! |
Podcast SummaryA voice of a Teacher. Educational Media. About enriqueEducation is essential, and public education serves millions of children across the nation, and billions worldwide. In many of my songs I made a concerted effort to intertwine and sway the listener to new ideas and vocabulary. Many words yall'â„¢all know, but I wanted to include familiar diction to make it a part of everyones conventional wisdom. My intent with this album was to express my concern for education and its current state of affairs. Being on the frontline, I see things that Americans are not seeing and must be reported. I am a teacher in Boyle Heights, educating young minds who along the way has swallowed facts and now is spitting out a strong opinion. The issue, "Why are students not meeting nor exceeding the standard? Many issues than stem off, like ACCESSâ„¢? The bottom line is public education does not give all students a competitive advantage. Technology is essential, especially laptop computers, it is the tool that all students must be equipped with because it gives opportunities that are limitless when comparing it to many of the already resources available in the classroom. (i.e. books, notebooks, pens, and glue). Basically, the purpose to this educational mixtape is to offer listeners a verbal assault, knowledge, a showcase of diction & syntax. I want you to find your favorite track, play it over and over again and know why you like it. For more insight, you can also check my POV @ www.myspace.com/teachinlaâ„¢
